In my previous post I touched upon Organization Network Analysis (ONA) and Social Network Analysis (SNA). Another aspect of this theory area is Value Networks and Value Networks Analysis (VNA). Some would claim that VNA gives a far more comprehensive picture of organizational dynamics and behavior than ONA and SNA.
In VN you describe the character and content of the relations as business processes. Seen from a Business Plan perspective this is better than just knowing that their relations exist. But the main problem is that the data needed for VNA can't be drawn from the sources normally used for VNA. A possible solution would be to bridge OCA/SNA with VNA through integration of workflow and project systems.
But there is no question about, that when a thorough OCA and SNA has been completed and firmly implemented, then building on this through VNA makes good sense.
